Ah, an artical on how to overclock a 1.25 Ghz -> 1.42 Ghz.

Not for the faint hearted tho

Especially given the miniscule size of the jumpers, and the fact that the lower speed CPUs are lower speed because they're of lower quality, and so may well overheat and die when run at the higher speed for longer periods (perhaps a fan might help though!).

pretty pathetic speed increase

i mean its not a lower quality CPU ;)
i guess its all the same from up to 1,5

I would say that it is worth the extra money to get a CPU that runs reliably at the advertised speed, and where you do not void your warranty.
Because of the way processors are batch-tested for speed, some may work fine when over-clocked, others will not. An overclocked CPU may also not last as long as a 'proper' one.
I don't the risk as not being worth it, also given the small speed increase.

if you add the price of the materials, and the time, i think it's cheaper to just buy the damn thing.

Of course, unless you get it fo free ;)
