Hi,

i've just installed Debian Lenny (amd64) and all the deb packages that are in this Ubuntu tutorial: http://www.blitzmax.com/Community/posts.php?topic=54592

If i want to start MaxIDE i get the following error:
./MaxIDE: error while loading shared libraries: libX11.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

what may be the problem?

Thanks

Have you installed the drivers for you graphics card ?

Have a look in /usr/lib/ to see if there is any file named
libX11.so.6 or libX11.so.6.x.x (x is a version number). If there is create a system link to the lib file in /usr/lib/

And see if you have the libX11-6 package installed for your distro.

You need to install libX11
and probably some others, do a search on this linux forum for libX11 and you'll find a list

Yep it should be fine. glxinfo tells me "direct rendering: yes"

You need to install libX11

I have already installed the libX11 package.

maybe the amd64 arch is the problem?

"maybe the amd64 arch is the problem?"

Are you using a 64bit distro?
Then have a look at this http://www.blitzbasic.com/Community/posts.php?topic=72867
If you can then try a 32bit version of debian lenny.
I had a quick look at the debian site and I see that lenny is still in the testing stage.

tin you didn't say if ubuntu was 64bit or 32bit. If you do a bit of digging on the linux discussion forum you will find most answers.
