I run Kubuntu 6.06 on my desktop and Windows Vista on my laptop. I tried using the Live CD in Virtual PC and it appears to load and then it goes all out wack! Any ideas? Does VMware have a windows binary? Ideas?

VMWare is available for windows.. though I dont know how well it works under Vista but I cant image it doesnt work.. plus VMWare server is free so there's no reason for not giving it a go.

I use Ubuntu and VMWare on Win2k. Works really well.

Interestingly, the GTK IDE running on the VM is quicker than the Win32 IDE on the same machine... However, running Max apps which hit the Graphics are really slowwwww (for the lack of hardware accelerated 3D thru the VM).

More interestingly, Parallels recently released v3 of their VM software which promises hardware 3D acceleration thru the VM.

It's all shaping up in the world of virtualness ;-)

I read somewhere that VMware is lightyears ahead of MS Virtual PC
