Hi guys,

I was wondering what your thoughts are on the following:

I'm after the smallest possible linux distro that would support BlitzMax. Which would you reccomend? It's been yonks since i last used linux.

just use Ubuntu i guess, or try whatever you have.

Hmm, hardly minimal, but I suppose for compatibility I should use it. Ubuntu was my first choice anyway.

I'll start downloading before I go to bed tonight. What are the improvements when compared to say, Fedora Core?

You can build up a very minimal distro with Gentoo, once you know what libraries and dependancies you require.

you could also "build from scratch".. but thats a bit hardcore though.

Cheers,
LuckyPhil.

Ubuntu is quite small relative to many Linux distros. You can see this from the fact that it fits on one CD. Out of the box, it only includes one application per task as well.

Still, if you would like minimal, there is a 50MB Linux distro which might do the job - http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/
