On SuSe 9.2 Professional? I downloaded the driver, managed to work out how to install it as a root, but I end up with this error message:- ERROR: You appear to be running an x server Is there anyway to stop the server running whilst installing the driver? I'm fresh out of the box with Linux, and I havent a clue what to do now, and I'm getting tired of typing:- sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8762-pkg1.run -q I've typed it that much that I remembered that off the top of my head, god knows what I'll end up dreaming about tonight! :) So, has anyone else been through this? Dabz P.S. I also know it's easier with YOU, but I don't have a Linux internet setup... Bloody WinModems! :/ |

You have to switch to runlevel 3 (text mode) before installing drivers. Take a look here for instructions: http://www.suse.de/~sndirsch/nvidia-installer-HOWTO.html |
